Since my first venture into the Void, I’ve encountered the Tooth‑Fairies, Lingua Shells, and Verdant Howlers. Thus far, I’ve been fortunate enough to earn the trust of these remarkable beings and bring them safely into my own world, where I’ve delighted in observing their behavior and learning more about their curious natures.
Yet, I cannot shake the feeling that the trees are watching me — and perhaps they are. Considering the fantastical creatures I’ve already met, it would hardly surprise me. When I wander through the forest — a vast expanse of towering trunks that stretch into the emerald sky — the leaves shimmer like gemstones, and I hear what sounds like a faint knocking. It’s as if someone is gently tapping a hollow branch with a stick. The sound is subtle, easily missed by anyone less attuned to their surroundings. Each time I turn toward it, I find only the trees, silent and unmoving. At first, I wondered if it might be the Void’s version of a woodpecker, though such a creature would have to be impossibly small to make such a delicate sound. But if I’ve learned anything from this place, it’s that anything is possible.
Sometimes, I catch a flicker of movement in the corner of my eye — too quick to capture, too elusive to define. Perhaps, with time, they will grow accustomed to my presence and reveal themselves. Until then, I remain patient, content to continue my exploration and listen for the whispers of the unseen.
Note to self: I really must give this place a better name than “the Void,” for it is anything but empty.
